The Asian Development Bank in a Reconnected Asia

Keynote Speech by ADB President Takehiko Nakao

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) plays a leading role in fostering inclusive and sustainable growth, and regional integration across Asia. According to the ADB’s own estimates, developing Asia and the Pacific will require $26 trillion from 2016 to 2030, or $1.7 trillion per year, in infrastructure investment to maintain current levels of economic growth, eradicate poverty, and respond to climate change. On April 14th, ADB President Takehiko Nakao visited the Center for Strategic and International Studies to discuss these issues at the 2017 Global Development Forum. As part of the proceedings, Matthew P. Goodman, the Simon Chair in Political Economy at CSIS, announced a new partnership between the ADB and the Reconnecting Asia Project.
