Description

The Highway forms part of the National Roads network and constitutes the largest road project in Albania’s history. Linking Milot, approximately 60km north east of the Adriatic port of Durres, with Morine at the Kosovo border, the route forms the central section of the wider Albania to Kosovo Highway.

The concession was awarded to a U.A.E.-based consortium, Catalyst Viva Das General Contracting LLC. The existing highway is in various conditions, so the concessionaire is to upgrade the road, then operate and maintain it as a tolled highway. The concession term is 30 years. The subjects of the concession project are sections: Milot-Rreshen, Rreshen-Kalimash, and Kalimash-Morine, which amount to 114.5 kilometers of road. The operation and routine maintenance of the highway is estimated to be 148.5 million Euro and the major maintenance cost is 50.8 million euro.
