Description

The largest port in Albania is undergoing a dredging project of the entrance channel and harbor basin to allow vessels with a draft of 10.5m to enter the port, equating to vessels of a size of 30,000 DWT (Deadweight Tonnage) for bulk cargo or 1,700 TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit) for containers. The project is administered by the Port of Durres Authority, responsible for managing the port.

The port is located 40km from the capital Tirana and plays a key part in the Pan European Corridor VIII, linking Italian ports through a number of countries to Black Sea ports.
