Following diplomatic talks, India and China have agreed to “expeditious disengagement” after a two-month border stand-off in the Doklam plateau, a disputed territory between China and Bhutan near the border with India. The conflict erupted on June 16, 2017 after Chinese soldiers initiated construction of a roadway in the disputed area.
